Anita Sinclair ... presents original poetry in a format that is entertaining and exciting, novel and thought provoking. Using Puppets and masks, a Kranky and whatever it takes! The occasional inclusion of works of other favourite writers offers a collection of items that can fill an hour, twenty minutes or just fifteen! Each anticipated audience will influence the items selected. Suits audiences of upper secondary and adult. An ‘adult concepts’ show provides a Cabaret presentation for ‘mature audiences only’. Preferred maximum audience 200. The Stage. Anita Sinclair takes pride in simplicity and portability. The Shadow Puppetry screen has been constructed for easy carrying and fast assembly. Many ‘found’ objects have been adapted for performance, resulting in an unusual, economical, pleasing assemblage that provides a professional workspace for her puppetry, and a plain backdrop for other theatrical items. The show can be set up in most spaces, raised stage or floor level. The simplest lighting will serve. The Shadow pieces, if included, will demand blackout. The Performers. Anita Sinclair has a long background in theatre, and is well known in the Melbourne poetry scene, with works published in a number of anthologies. The Puppetry Handbook by Anita Sinclair has been selling around the world for ten years.
Anita works across the Arts in sculpture, painting, poetry and theatre. She often uses puppetry and other theatrical devices to present her poetry, having noticed that this helps extend the audience’s focus on the words over longer time spans. Anita Sinclair is the author of The Puppetry Handbook, popular around the world since 1995; with a revised second edition published in 2000.

The performance works well either at floor level or raised on a platform or stage. This show is viewed best from the front as it often includes shadow puppetry. Bump-in and bump-out take 15 minutes maximum unless unusual circumstances add time. Can provide shows of short or long duration. Fees vary accordingly and are negotiable.
